It had been a while since I had taken my car to get looked at and I found Paul's due to all of the positive reviews here at Yelp. They were right.They took my car in right away and gave me what seemed to be a reasonable quote to check over everything, including my barely functioning AC, squeaky brakes and a leaky tire. Bob warned me that they might not have it ready today, but they were done early and below estimate. He also took the time to recommend what work ought to be done in a couple thousand miles on the car. If only I was planning to be in Sac in a couple months, I'd be sure to go back to Paul's for the work tho the estimate on that made me gulp.

I have had my truck in to Paul's a few times now, and each time, I have been really pleased with the results. The prices are as fair as you can hope to find in the auto repair business, which is not something you can often take for granted. I have spent a lot of money there, but only because Ford has done such a splendid job of making maintenance and parts more expensive than they need to be! However, Paul's does their part to lessen the shock, and the bill is often lower than the initial estimates have been.Work seems to be solid, and they do extra things without asking (or charging), such as cleaning my corroded battery terminals and rotating the tires when doing some diagnosis on a suspension issue. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Overall, this is an island of sanity in the crazy world of car repair!

I'm a female stereotype. I don't know anything about cars except how to fill the gas. But now that I finally have my own car, I'm trying really hard to be proactive about learning to take care of it and most of all, I'm trying not to get bamboozled out of a lot of money. I took my car to another well rated yelp service for my 5k mile tune up about a year ago and I felt uneasy after leaving the place. In retrospect, I'm pretty sure I spent waay more than I should have. Being overly cautious for my 15k tune up, I found a bunch of places on yelp to call and I had no intention of making an appointment until I had talked to a few places and gotten a few quotes. But as soon as I called this place, I felt so comfortable and at ease. They were so friendly on the phone that it actually caught me off guard and they quoted me a price well below other estimates so I immediately booked an appointment for the next day.When I arrived, they were speedy and efficient. They took down my information, quoted me the same low price they had over the phone, and went over what they were going to be doing with my car and I loved that they also talked about services that I probably wouldn't need at this time to save me some money. My car was ready at the time promised and the end price ended up being exactly the same as the quoted price. Nothing more, nothing less. Speedy, efficient and honest service. I'll definitely be bringing my car back for all my future needs.

I brought my PT Cruiser here. This is one of the best auto repair shops around. I will be back for future repairs. I will recommend to friends and family.

Honest, quick service. I made an appt. for my 60,000 mile maintenance. I got everything that I needed and nothing more. I came to Paul's because of other yelp reviews regarding not being pressured to buy parts/services that aren't needed. Being a little woman, I feel a little ripped off most of the time with my car. Paul called after the service and let me know my brakes didn't need replacing and had about another 15,000 miles on it. (This is great news since usually, someone who is trying to rip you off will tell you your brake pads are going out, and scare you into paying for new ones.) I had them replaced only 5,000 miles ago, so upon hearing this, I was sold. I'm coming here for all my car repair needs. I got a fair price, if not a good price, for service and I highly recommend the shop to others who live and/or work in midtown.

Paul's Automotive Inc. is a local institution. With about 6 lifts serving cars, Paul's staff (who've been there FOREVER) maneuver a bunch of cars in and out each day. They're nice, polite and friendly. Always always, make an appointment. It's sometimes hard to do in this world of running about, but they're busy enough to require it. And always always be respectful about picking up your car so the guys can go home. They're working hard in the elements (hot summer and cold winter extremes) and deserve to leave. (Sometimes I go midday and give them the check b4 the work's done. They hide my keys in my car and I use my spare to pick up after 6.)They can store your car in their garage if you ask in advance (they're VERY squeezed in there) and can receive vehicles before opening time by leaving the key in the maildrop. They work on all makes and models as far as I can tell. The good news: if they can't, they'll tell you!They've started vacuuming the floors of cars when they work on them. It's pretty sweet. I recommend using Paul's for checking out a new car before you buy it. Both hubby and I have done that. It's reassuring.I've been taking my cars to Paul's since 1992. Over the year's I've had a 78 Honda Accord hatchback, an 88 Honda Civic, 89 Honda Accord and 94 Accord (both spouse's), a 01 Subaru Legacy (mom car) and an 07 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Paul's Automotive Inc. has been through almost every repair over this time. They have been nothing but fair, kind and honest. My first visit to Paul's went like this... I'm in my 78 Accord & was told by Midas on 16th Street (not still there I don't think) that I needed a new break job. All the brakes needed replacing. Huge cost, which I didn't have. I took my car and headed to Paul's. He said there was nothing wrong with the brakes and sent me on my way. I never needed brakes on that car (until it was stolen and I would've liked them on a remote!)...More proof: At a previous employer we worked with the CA Board of Auto Repair that would (long story short) survey customers after they used their vendors. I learned that Paul's received TREMENDOUS high marks for their customer service AND their honesty (about pricing)...

I took my civic to Paul's Automotive Inc. for a smog check. It took them a little over an hour and they called me when my car was done. I was greeted by Paul and he had me in and out of there in no time. I passed my smog check...yay!I subtracted one star beacuse I thought the smog check was a bit overpriced. I think I ended up paying around $65-$70. I know that you can get way cheaper smog checks elsewhere in Sacramento with a coupon.I haven't gone here for anything other than a smog check yet, so I may update this review if I ever need to go back for something not smog-check related.

What a great experience for a car shop! Everyone was knowledgeable and nice from start to finish, they really value you as a customer...that customer service skill most places lack these days. I used them for my smog and they also accepted the states CAP certificate. Lots of street parking if you are there in the morning. Thanks! p.s. My car passed...YEAH!

I took my car here after a not-so-good experience with another local mechanic who had messed up a job--- Paul's Automotive Inc. figured out the problem, called me with an estimate and fixed it in decent timing. It can be pricier than other places, but as I learned at the last mechanic, sometimes it's worth it to pay the extra $$ so you can feel safe driving! The only thing to note, is sometimes parking around there can be a drag.

I agree! Paul has always been honest and fair. I also had a potentially expensive repair when a bolt on my rack & pinion steering broke inside the box. Any other mechanic would have just charged me for a new steering box but his mechanic took the time (a couple hours) to get the bolt out and simply replaced it with a new one. All I paid was the labor. I would recommend his shop to anyone.
